Limitations.

I'm usually pretty good about not pushing the limits. I'm quite content staying within the boundary lines. But last night, my current limitations hit me over the head.

It was my last "Tradition" (our campus-wide Christmas party) as an SPU student. Of course I had to go. I put on my ugly sweater and met up with my lovely friend Tara to head over. It was wonderful to see so many of my friends and hear words of encouragement.

But not being able to easily communicate was discouraging. Even with all these people around me, I still felt trapped inside and somewhat lonely. I so desperately wanted to convey my thoughts but I was stuck in my own head. I came home discouraged and frustrated; my limitations were becoming more and more difficult to handle.

But as I sat alone at home wishing I could be socializing, I was once again reminded that God is all I need. He's the only one I need to talk to, the only one from which to find my comfort, satisfaction, and belonging. And although I may encounter times of loneliness, He has never left my side.

God is teaching me a lot and I pray what I learn carries into my life once I can speak again.

God, I look to you, I won't be overwhelmed.
Give me vision to see things like you do.
God, I look to you, you're where my help comes from.
Give me wisdom, you know just what to do.
- "God, I Look to You" from Bethel Live

"I am counting on the Lord; yes, I am counting on him. I have put my hope in his word." - Psalm 130:5
