Finding Light in Darkness.

I would be lying if I said this wasn't one of the hardest times of my life. I got back to Seattle and things went downhill from there. I stepped into our apartment, which we knew was moldy, and was smacked in the face with the smell of mold. Our landlord (who is so kind but also senile) wouldn't hear results from a mold test for a couple days. I knew I couldn't stay there. I had been thinking that this past quarter in the moldy apartment was making my voice worse.

I evacuated my apartment, picked up Angelique from the airport, and spent the night in a hotel compliments of my amazing parents. As we were eating breakfast the next morning, my dad called. He had just heard the results from my landlord and they were anything but hopeful. The mold guy had found high levels of mold in our apartment. A majority of the mold was coming from my room (of course, right?). One of the types of mold is known to cause respiratory illnesses. Awesome. My hunch was right--the apartment had been harming my vocal cords for the past few months.

I am so thankful for the amazing people in our life who have been willing to host Angelique and I. We camped out at different houses and waited. We finally found out it would take a month to clean so our biggest fear was confirmed: we needed to find somewhere to move and we needed to find somewhere fast. At the same time, I found what I thought was mold in my car. You can say that I was a little bit of a mess. Everything in my life seemed to be falling apart. Why was all this happening? I clung to God and reminded myself that His plans are perfect. I poured out my heart to Him and waited for His direction and rescue.

But yesterday was a day of light amidst the darkness. I had an appointment with my voice doctor. There was a little bit of bad news: one of my vocal cords is still bruised and is causing my voice to sound not normal when I talk. But there was some good news! The nodules have shrunk! Not completely (they're still there a little bit) but the edges of my vocal cords are straighter. PRAISE THE LORD. I was in joyful disbelief. Although my vocal cords aren't perfect, there is so much hope!

Right after I got home, I got emails from two music therapy internships offering me interviews. What?! Totally the confirmation I needed. Later on in the day, we found out that we could move into school housing or potentially another off-campus apartment. And I found out that my car is not home to mold. Seriously, God was pouring it out yesterday. So good.

Angelique and I are still temporarily nomadic and are waiting to find out where we can move and how soon. But if I have learned anything the past few days, it's that waiting on God will always turn out. Even when it's challenging to wait, His plans will be revealed in time. Even though this time in my life is dark, I am confident in the light that God provides and will continue to provide. All glory be to Him!

I'd love if you continue to pray for my healing as well as a quick and stress-free resolution to our housing woes. Thank you all so much! Your support means the world to me.
