Dream On.

Well, it has been far too long since my last post. Spring Quarter has gotten the best of my time. But I'm finally taking the time to write down my thoughts.

Ever since Dr. Nienhuis challenged the way I look at being a follower of Christ, I've been itching. I've been anxious to get out there and be a disciple. I'm wondering what my role looks like in the Kingdom of God.

At church a few weeks ago, the pastor talked about goals and dreams. When Jesus showed us his way of life and instructed us to act the same, He called us to be disciples to all nations. We are supposed to dream BIG. Yes, doing little things and acts of love are great. But Jesus didn't just affect a small number of people; He affected the whole world and calls us to do the same.

As a follower of Christ, I need to have big goals for myself. I'm called to change the world. I used to think that I wasn't able to take on a task like this. I felt that I was too small and wouldn't be able to make a big enough impact. But guess what? God has made a way and has set us up for victory! Ephesians 2:10 tells us that He has good works already planned for us and we just have to act on them! After Jesus commissions His disciples, He promises that He will always be us. We can have a bold vision and desire to change the world because God is with us and on our side.

Once I get out of the way and let God work through me, there are no limits. God cannot be contained by my futile human abilities. I'm reminded of a line from one of my favorite songs "The same power that conquered the grave lives in me, lives in me. Your love that rescued the earth lives in me, lives in me." With the Holy Spirit as our enabler, we CAN change the world.

We must put our own desires aside and put God and our relationship with Him above all. When we look intently into His face, we will start to reflect His image without even being aware of it. My challenge to you (and myself): dream big. Listen to the dreams the Holy Spirit places on your heart. Put your relationship with God first, follow Him, and the rest will fall into place. The power of Jesus' love is the power that will change the world.

"Go therefore and make disciple of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of age." - Matthew 28:19-20
